The French Intellectual Property Code has been strengthened with the addition of a new law dated October 29, 2007 aimed at fighting counterfeiting.
The new text aims to set up fast-track and simplified legal procedures for hearing by the judge in urgent situations. An information right has also been created, which enables the legal authorities to more easily identify the players involved in the counterfeiting networks. The law also greatly improves upon the calculation of damages and interests granted by the courts to victims of counterfeiting.
